Hydrogen Cooler Cleaning

All rectangular coolers, such as hydrogen, exciter and inter-coolers are cleaned inside our Hydrogen Cooler Cleaner (HCC) Unit. This unit has a self-contained cleaning vessel, with a kidney loop filtration system, allowing the cleaning solution to be continuously filtered and recycled. The filtration system uses Dacron filter socks with as small as 1 micron openings. Filter socks are considered non-hazardous, solid waste.

Some customers choose to send these coolers with the waterboxes attached. We then remove and clean the waterboxes, inspect them for deterioration (NHECC epoxy coating is available for repairs), perform the Scope of Work, reassemble with new gaskets, and hydrostatically test the complete unit for leaks. The cooler is ready for installation upon return.

Lead Abatement

Coolers with fins attached with lead solder may show a white powder on the solder joint, tubes, and/or fins. This is lead carbonate and required a special abatement procedure during cleaning. We incorporate an ultra-fine sand filter that traps and holds this residue. The filter is emptied and the contents disposed of according to Hazardous Waste Disposal Regulations.
